Our client asked:
An IOC contracted Sagentia Innovation to develop a technology roadmap as part of its plans to develop and deploy mobile robots on unmanned platforms. The client wanted to gain a clear perspective on the technology gaps relative to its strategic objectives and understand the level of investment, skill, and resources associated with mobile robots.
The project story:
Sagentia Innovation adopted the following approach:
- Starting by carrying out a state-of-the-art review of available robotic technologies and assessing the gaps between the technical and functional requirements (e.g. including manipulation, vision, power, navigation, communication, firmware and software, automation)
- Using our established technology road-mapping methodology, we defined a series of R&D projects that would address the gaps across buy, collaborate, and develop options
For each of the 15 identified functionalities, we formulated roadmaps capturing:
- Resources and competencies
- Specifications and decisions required
- Risks and barriers to implementation
- Interfaces and dependencies

We provided the client with a clear view of the technical complexity, risks and opportunities, level of skills, and associated investment required. We generated a series of recommendations on the next steps for the development and implementation of autonomous robotic technologies in unmanned platforms, facilitating the dialogue with the top management.
