Management and commercialisation – novel renewables technology

We led the UK-based NOVA consortium, which included representatives from three universities – Cranfield, Strathclyde and Sheffield – the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture (CEFAS) and SME Wind Power.

Key sub-contractors included James Ingram & Associates and QinetiQ and the consortium was funded by the Energy Technologies Institute (ETI), a unique partnership between global industries and the UK Government.

The NOVA (novel offshore vertical axis) project focused on designing cutting edge offshore wind turbine technology and aimed to provide 1 GW of power from offshore vertical axis turbines.

We managed the programme, facilitating the many stakeholders:

  • Consortium members
  • ETI and industry partners

We also led the commercialisation part of the project scope including:

  • Roadmap development
  • Options facilitation and selection
