Dr Nick Collier

Chief Technology Officer

Nick works to bring new technologies from the research lab into commercial products. With a background in physics and chemistry, Nick has spent 25 years working across the medical and life-science sectors at the interface of biochemistry, microfluidics and instrumentation. The focus of much of his work is in medical diagnostics and IVD.

Erica Kantor

Head of Women’s Health

Erica supports companies in the medical industry achieve commercial success and improve patient outcomes through the development of breakthrough products and services. With a background in Mechanical Engineering, her work spans the entire product development process, from concept to manufacture. She is particularly passionate about holistic, human-centric design and women’s health innovation.

Chris Humby

Partner

Chris has a strong background in new product development, and for the past fifteen years he has focused on devices for the medical sector. Today he plays a lead role in our work in this space, drawing on his extensive network of contacts within US, European and Japanese multinationals as well as start-ups.

Dr Rob Morgan

Partner

Rob has spent 25+ years in MedTech innovation. During his time at Sagentia Medical, Rob has led the development of a surgical robotics system, an in vitro diagnostics platform and a drug delivery system. Prior to joining, he worked in the Orthopaedics industry at Smith & Nephew, holding positions in research & development, project management and strategic marketing.

Carl Hewett

VP Design

Carl offers extensive insights into Human-Centric Design and Human Factors. His design engineering expertise goes hand-in-hand with a customer-focused business development mindset. He has multiple international patents and has managed several multi-year medical device developments. Carl has a first-class degree in industrial product design and a PGDip in innovation and design thinking.

Josh Jackson

Director of Business Development

Josh leverages over 25 years’ experience in the medical industry. Josh’s background is focused on surgical and procedural technologies working for many medical device organisations. His experience also includes general, gynaecology, neuro, urological and vascular surgeries as well as procedures in cardiac catheterisation, electrophysiology and hepatology labs.

Hermione Blakiston

Medical R&D Consultant

With an academic background in computational and theoretical physics, Hermione’s expertise spans optics and sensor technology, particularly within diagnostic, surgical, and women’s health applications. Her projects encompass IP landscaping and due diligence, as well as the design and creation of demonstrator devices for clinical verification in hospitals worldwide. Hermione excels at translating innovative technologies into tangible products that enhance patient outcomes.

Duncan Smith

SVP, Managing Partner

Duncan spent 15 years in R&D and manufacturing before moving to technology consultancy, where he has worked with many world leading multi-nationals and startups in the Medical, Consumer and Industrial sectors. He has led teams of designers, scientists and engineers in Europe, the US and Asia. Duncan is an electronic and audio engineer by background and holds an MBA.

Paul Wilkins

Managing Director & EVP

Paul has more than 20 years experience in the identification of new market opportunities and the delivery of novel technologies and products. He is a University of Cambridge, UK engineering graduate, and has spent much of his career developing products for consumers, industrial processes and medical devices, with a particular focus on diagnostics. Paul is a member of Science Group’s CTO Forum where explores issues having material impact on R&D organisations.
