Sagentia Aviation congratulates Rob Jackson on his appointment as UK NATO Industry Advisory Group (NIAG) Liaison Officer (NLO) for the NATO Science & Technology Organisation/Science & Technology Board (STO/STB).

This voluntary role places Rob at the heart of NATO’s efforts to connect science and technology priorities with industry expertise.

The NIAG plays a critical role in advising NATO on industrial engagement, innovation, and capability development. As NLO to the STO/STB, Rob will support Dr H. Greenhough (UK NIAG S&T Lead) in aligning NATO’s science and technology requirements with industry solutions. This includes identifying partners who can deliver cutting-edge capabilities and ensuring that UK industry remains a strong contributor to NATO’s innovation agenda.

Rob Jackson commented:
“I’m honoured to take on this role and help strengthen the link between NATO’s science and technology priorities and UK industry. Collaboration is key to delivering innovative solutions that meet the Alliance’s evolving needs.”

Why this matters for UK industry and SMEs

Rob’s appointment is not just significant for Sagentia Aviation—it’s a win for UK industry. NIAG provides a platform for businesses to influence NATO’s technology roadmap and showcase innovative solutions. For SMEs in the aviation sector, this is particularly important: access to NATO’s priorities can open doors to collaborative projects, funding opportunities, and partnerships that accelerate growth and competitiveness.

By having a clarifying voice in NATO’s science and technology discussions, UK companies can ensure their capabilities are recognised and integrated into future defence strategies. This strengthens the UK’s position as a trusted partner in delivering advanced technologies for the Alliance.

Tom Rasmussen, Managing Director of Sagentia Aviation, added:“Supporting NATO Industry Advisory Group is important for us and our clients. Rob’s insight into NATO’s priorities ensures we can guide UK aviation towards opportunities that matter. It’s about staying ahead and shaping the future of defence technology.”

We are proud to support Rob in this significant role and look forward to seeing the impact of his contributions on NATO’s science and technology initiatives.
