- Introduces fourteen products exempted from declaring FOP warning seals. Examples include olive oil and other vegetable oils, cold pressed or refined; skimmed cheeses without the addition of other nutrients that add nutritional value to the product; milk-based beverages that have been produced using exclusively dairy ingredients, without the addition of other nutrients that add nutritional value to the product, among other products.
- Establishes the format and dimension requirements for the FOP when displaying the three nutrients (sodium, fat, and sugar), as well as when displaying one or two nutrients (examples below).
Do you sell food & beverage products in Paraguay? If you do, it’s important to be aware that Paraguay recently joined fellow South American countries including Chile, Argentina, and Brazil in incorporating front of pack labelling into national law.
Law No. 7092/2023 of 02 June 2023 makes it mandatory to display front of pack (FOP) warning seals on processed prepacked food products exceeding certain thresholds for sugars, saturated fats, and sodium. In August 2023, the National Institute of Food and Nutrition opened a Draft Regulation for public consultation and comment until 10 September 2023.
