The new service lines leverage wide-ranging experience and expertise to help clients from different industry sectors make material progress towards sustainability goals.

All three companies are part of Science Group plc, and this development follows the creation of Science Group | Sustainability, the Group’s dedicated sustainability entity. Management and strategy, product innovation, and product stewardship have been identified as three distinct but interconnected areas where businesses can benefit from external support and guidance.

TSG’s chemical compliance, stewardship and sustainability expert Sue Bullock is taking a lead role implementing the new sustainability service lines. She says businesses are often unsure how to approach the subject of sustainable products. They can also find it difficult to evaluate the chemicals they use and make informed decisions about them.

‘Understanding, then acting on, sustainability issues related to products and chemical ingredients requires deep technical expertise and know-how,’ Sue explains. ‘There are complex interconnections, and much of the time there are trade-offs and uncertainties are involved. However, a pragmatic, science-based approach can reveal opportunities for meaningful sustainability-led improvements. When you combine specific insight, regulatory understanding and innovation best practice it’s possible to make significant gains. The new service lines enable us to extend and enrich TSG’s offering with specialist skills and experience from Sagentia Innovation and Leatherhead Food Research.’

Science Group | Sustainability recently launched a Net Zero Playbook, the result of a year-long collaboration between innovation leaders from seven global brands and the three sister companies. Representatives from chemicals companies Stepan Company and Solvay SA were involved as well as Proctor & Gamble, Bayer’s crop science division, PepsiCo, Mars, and packaging specialist Amcor.
