GB requirements for new pesticide authorisations and MRLs
January 09, 2021
From January 2021 new decisions on pesticide authorisations and Maximum Residue Levels (MRLs) taken under the EU regulatory system no longer apply in Great Britain (GB). Instead, GB MRLs are set based on assessments performed by the UK regulatory authority, HSE/CRD (Health and Safety Executive/Chemicals Regulation Division), and included into the GB MRL Statutory Register. Applications for GB MRLs are made at the same time as applications for plant protection product (PPP) authorisations, import tolerances, or active substance approvals, and are evaluated in parallel.
Although there is currently minimal divergence between the EU and GB regulatory systems, GB MRL applications require the submission of application forms and evaluation reports according to new GB templates, which differ from their EU equivalents. With separate GB PPP, active substance and MRL submissions required for continued access to the UK market, Sagentia Regulatory’s, formerly TSG Consulting, regulatory and technical experts can support you in meeting these additional regulatory requirements.
